How to test BixServer

• startup server and desktop
• in desktop in the connect bar type server://localhost
• goto menu Favourites, add machine
• goto 'Network Scan'; add ip range in CIDR format: 194.109.159.0/24; click ping service to change options, change timeout to something like 100ms; click scan
• after results appear, click 'Add to situation room' button->all with resolved names
• goto 'Situation Room'
• click on 'New' under tag, add tag called 'Server Farm'
• select the tag 'all hosts not tagged'
• click anywhere in machine list and press ctrl+a, right click, choose tags->'Server Farm'
• select tag 'Server Farm', see machines added
• goto 'Notification Setup', under servicechecks modify 'Ping' (and also 'http') by adding the tag 'Server Farm' to the list of tags to associate with the service check, click apply
• go back to Situation Room
• select the tags for 'http servicecheck success' or 'http servicecheck fail', as well as 'ping success' and 'ping fail' and watch machines migrating dynamically
• or alternatively select the tag 'all hosts' and see status next to each machine
• goto 'Server Status' and see how things are scheduled.

How to test BixAgent

• startup server and agent
• in desktop in the connect bar type agent://localhost
• goto menu Favourites, add machine
• click 'Processes' see if process list loads
• click 'Realt-Time Graph', wait for data sources to load, select a couple of items to monitor
• in 'Details' each data source is listed, you can double-click on an item in the Style column and change from Line to Fill
• colors can also be changed by double clicking any item in the Color column
• hover over the graph scroll bars for tooltips on how to use the scrollbars
• click 'Options' and change some options like scrolling gridlines
• click 'Edit Streams' and add a few more items, or remove items

List of known issues with this Beta

- Creating a new Data Collection for any data source based on PDH causes Desktop to crash.
- Data Collections should be created by hand, and BixServer restarted to make them become active.
- Reports are tied to Data Collections, if no Data Collections are setup, then reports will always be empty.
