Bixdata falses constantly, how to prevent?

Submitted by Anonymous on November 22, 2006 - 11:59.

I have setup BixData to port monitor a number of hosts internally. However, BixData reports that these hosts are up and down constantly.

However, when I test manually the services are NEVER down when BixData says that they are.

It would be nice to sleep at night without constant false alarms (the wolf has came and gone).

Any way to prevent this? I have kicked up the timeouts to the maximum values, tried increasing the interval that the item is checked, etc but nothing seems to work.

Thanks in advance, I am getting tired of the wolf.

What are you using as a manual test?

Look at notification history. What is the reason BixServer says your test is failing?

I finally figured it out. The threshold was triggering during backups, etc.

The terminology used in this part of the program really threw me for a loop. Perhaps that portion should be noted somewhat better about what the values are. I know it is pretty obvious when you finally read the docs but it just looks confusing the way the boxes are laid out until you know what they do.

Great product, we plan on purchasing it very soon.

Hi

I appreciate you getting back to me!

I have sent your feedback, and I'm sure in 2.7 they'll make it clear.
