Mac BixServer can't do reverse lookup in Network scanner

Submitted by francoisjoannette on June 8, 2007 - 10:58.

Hi there,

Running 2.7 Bixserver mac version without built-in db.

From BixDesktop, Mac version, When performing a network scan to add host on the system, the server never returns dns names. If I scan a machine from it's dns name, it will show the results as an ip based machine without any dns.....

Also, if I scan a network range, as well as single hosts, results will never contain dns information....

Any ideas?

Hi

How is the Mac running Bixserver setup with DNS? Is DNS loaded from DHCP or entered statically?

Thanks.

Everything is set on the machine itself. Lookups and reverse lookups are great and fully functional.

Next! ;)

I've had no problems with reverse lookups. It's all fully functional on my machine also - Thanks,

Hi

We've found a problem with one of the socket functions on MAc, that is an issue because of the 2nd latest patch from Apple.

I'll keep you updated on a fix.
