New to BixData

Hi im new. I just installed a few days to replace hyperic.
At first it worked great, even reports, now i have a problem. I deleted all the defaults tags and created my own. Not sure if this is related but the function of reports dont work anymore. Not a single report or stats show. Its pretty useless without reports.

All i get is:
Error: Request(Reporting/ReportIndex) : No data available for graph set
Requesting reports lists
Requesting reports lists
Requesting reports lists
Error: Request(Reporting/ReportIndex) : No data available for graph set

Also, i created an http check and it keeps sending me alerts all the time detecting it as down and when its not. The default is if its over 500 is should send an alert. So receveived values sometimes for 750. So i increased to 950. Now the software sometimes detects the http host as 2000 sometimes and sends me an alert. It seems i increase the value. Are those miliseconds? Not a single time was the host down but it keeps randomly detecting the host as down. I know its because the value is higher but what is the case of putting a higher value there if it will just randomly detect a higher value. I dont know why it sometimes detects such a high value. Usually its only 20 and sometimes it jumps to 1000 and of course since its out of range it sends an alert and i think its down. And i then check and its not, its works pefectly, i think this is not really a very accurate way to check if a hosts is down. Also, i tried to check another hosts for http checks and since it returns code 403 it detects as down as well and its not.
I just wish to do a single check on a host. I did not even tried some more advance settings since i wish first to get the basics to run. I have the impression that when the server where bixdata is loaded gets a little loaded the http check will then just take to much time to check and it returns high values but not sure about.
When will the new version be up? I was told it would had some new exciting features for virtualization. Since i plan to go Citrix Xen ready this would be the only monitoring solution that fully supports it. Can wait to get this running to get a license. Thanks for all.

Hi

I can help you with this issue.

Which os are you running? Did you use Mysql/Postgres as a SQL backend?

Hi Nibb

I'm a great fan of Bixdata, unfortunately the updates, support and communication really let it down.

You can be waiting days and weeks before getting a response on the forum, the site hasn't been updated for a long time, also the next update was due last quarter last year and it never materialised.

Until this improves, BixData has lost 1 paying customer - we're currently in the process of switching to Zabbix.

Hi

The support forums are only for the free community edition and therefore doesn't have formal support, like the professional edition.

Depending on support load, we try to respond promptly to issues in the forums.

ok can i make a few suggestions

1) Update the website and add new content (it still shows Copyright 2006)
2) Release details of the next update and expected features (keeps people interested, i was told nothing and hence let my license expire)
3) Fix the ticket system, when i login it does not show any "Project" which is required to continue (if thats on purpose cause my license has expired, then say so!)
4) Remove the "Ask Live Chat Online" image from the right, its misleading and incredibly frustrating when all you see is a contact form (and not a chat window!).
5) Show more of a public face - the first thing people see is the forums, if they see posts un-answered then it reflects badly on the support.
6) Add more how-to's - its one of the things that sold Bixdata to me to begin with, but nothing has been added in a long time.
