Windoes server 64 Bits not adding database SQL Server

Submitted by falves1 on April 25, 2009 - 11:33.

I am using Windows 2008 64 Bits and I find it impossible to add a SQL server 2008 64 bits in the localhost. I created the database, the username, filled all the information, but it does not even try to connect. I am monitoring SQL Server with the Profiler and I don't see any connection attempt. Please somebody help.

before I tried to install the servert in SUSE 11, and the database also failed to install because of permissions issue.

We've identified an issue with 64 bit Windows and SQL Server 2005.

As for Suse 11, please do not try to install Bix Server under root. You have to install it as a regular user, this is good practise and enforced by PostgreSQL.

Version 2.8 will include a fix for 64bit Windows SQL Server. Until then you can use the built in PostgreSQL
