BixData's Disruptive Innovation is a cybernetic P2P

BixData has created a profound advancement in management science - a lightweight, self-adapting 3-dimensional mesh architecture uniquely suited for new IT environments.

Component Innovations

Our platform is built on three major innovations:
  • Self-organizing p2p is a mesh network fabric , similar to the science in file-sharing platforms like BitTorrent or KaZaa. It is a distributed, dynamic, role-shifting, decentralized intelligence that operates with a single “hive-mind”, and self-installs even in complex network topologies. Our ‘agent-less’ architecture allows full remote control of target systems without a resident agent.
  • N-cube (n-dimensional) datastore is a distributed OLAP data warehouse - using 'scatter-gather' techniques similar in nature to Google's MapReduce - that stores and crunches complex analytics on high-precision data in same-second real-time.
  • xPlatform runtime is a multi-platform 'virtual machine' that adapts our code to streamlined native C for every target OS (Windows, Linux, Mac, FreeBSD) and virtualization scheme (VMware, Xen/Citrix, Hyper-V) and allows us to plug directly into networking and storage hardware.

3D Architecture

Conventional solutions are two-dimensional - vertical, hierarchical, center-to-remote architectures that are hard to scale, don't self-adjust, and have difficulty tracking complex applications like virtualization and cloud computing. BixData has added a third dimension - a horizontal p2p communication layer - that does not rely on central orchestration. The link to a central control desktop (or application) is itself a p2p connection.

Bix is Borg

BixData is profoundly different. It took science fiction to provide the metaphor. Bix is Borg - 'an inter-connected collective' (self-organizing p2p) that 'assimilates' new life forms (cross-platform virtual machine), functions with a single hive-mind (n-cube datastore) and adapts through self-learning (cybernetic feedback loop) - all in pursuit of perfection. Resistance is Futile.

External Interfaces

Bix platform was designed for integration, enhancement and customization. It has a Plug-In architecture with well-defined APIs, and a well-documented external data interface - Open Operational Data Exchange (OODE) - that make it simple to integrate with any other external platform, including competitors.
