BixAgent on Ubuntu with VLM

Hello,

I can not start the bixdata agent, I think the vlm hard disk setup is the problem. I have a ubuntu x64 server. Here is the output when I start the Agent:
./bixagent BixAgent version 2.8; Copyright 2004 - 2006 (http://www.bixdata.com) Using data path: /home/roman/bixdata/bixdata-agent/bixagent/data/ Public Key Signature 0E55C67F***************3B1B6211

here it hangs and after couple of minutes it shows:
Smart errno2 22 SMART plugin :: Unable to enable native SMART support
at this point I have to CTRL+C otherwise it doesn't do anything, and I receive the following:

stats from no agent nodes like switches, NAS, etc...

Hi,

Got Bix working, looks great. Before I can sell the product and get the ok to buy the software (we have about 150 nodes and growing), I need to be able to monitor our Foundry switches and BlueArc NFS sever.

While I have sflow enabled on the switch and an sflow collector, I prefer monitoring using Bix so everything is in one area.

How can I get Bix to collect stats off my switches and NAS devices?

I've a non slflow/non netflow Juniper router which I use MRTG to monitor but I would like to also Bix that puppy up as well.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

BixAgent Startup error - Error creating listener

Hi, there. Thanks for the excellent product. My plan is to install the bixserver on a win machine and an agent on a linux machine (archlinux). I got the server to install and work. But I can't install the agent on the linux os.

Procedure: Downloaded the package, extracted it, and ran ./bixagent without modifying any configs (in sudo).

Problem message (-debug):

BixAgent version 2.8; Copyright 2004 - 2006 (http://www.bixdata.com) Using data path: /home/admin/Downloads/bixdata/bixagent/data/ Public Key Signature 380458B6B6D41B34CEA3A5BB95A121D0D08F4DAE SSLLibInit :: Multi-threaded support enabled

Windoes server 64 Bits not adding database SQL Server

I am using Windows 2008 64 Bits and I find it impossible to add a SQL server 2008 64 bits in the localhost. I created the database, the username, filled all the information, but it does not even try to connect. I am monitoring SQL Server with the Profiler and I don't see any connection attempt. Please somebody help.
before I tried to install the servert in SUSE 11, and the database also failed to install because of permissions issue.




Custom process

Hello,
It's possible to check a processus with bixdesktop and sent a e-mail if this prtocess has been crashed ? I can do that with Bix desktop and HTTP servicecheck but not with a custom script !? This custom script must checked a windows process run under a network PC.

existing Xen infrastructure

Hi all,
Haven't tride Bix yet but have done a few others (openqrm, ganeti, convirt) and am still looking for a good one.
Can I use Bixdata to manage my existing Xen domUs and dom0s?
What I mean is;

- snapshots

- backups

- restores

- migration from 1 dom0 to another incase my production dom0 box is dying.
Will Bixdata do these?

I am a newbie here and started with BixData today. Really cool with so far what I have seen.
Setting up a custom script and got a couple of questions. I will appreciate for any pointers/answers.
I have a script that simply check my (web) application health and returns few data points like below:
% perl scripts/url_check.pl

AppURLContent : 1

AppURL : 1

AudioURLContent : 1

AudioURL : 1
I have the configuration in the dp-import.xml as below for this script:

ping network scan

just downloaded the latest community bixdata server and desktop client. easy to deploy, love the client interface, love the pop-up notifications, but I have a serious problem that I cannot understand.
I do a network scan of the whole /24 block that my servers are on, and It returns a list of ip addresses, even resolves the ones it can, but for some reason, it shows that almost all of my servers are offline, even though I know they are!! even from the same host machine, i can ping to any one of my servers without any packet loss and with a very low latency (as one would expect for machines on the same lan)

when I try to run the agent I get this error message

./bixagent: /lib/i686/libpthread.so.0: version `GLIBC_2.3.2' not found (required by ../systemlib/bixsystemlib.so)

./bixagent: /lib/i686/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.3' not found (required by ../systemlib/bixsystemlib.so)
I'm not sure what to do.

Main User Interface

We are running 30 WIndows XP systems, and I want the main GUI to show basic stats on all those systems (i.e. memory % use, CPU % use, disk I/O % use, etc.) on one page. I can only seem to get it to show the pre-configured icons.
Anyone have any suggestions?
